WAVELENGTHS DANCE FESTIVAL

SCREENDANCE

Strangelove Festival celebrates the diversity of time-based media. Performance has always been included in our national and international programme, but we are extending our remit to include a festival of Dance, Wavelengths. In 2025 Strangelove partners with 1Degree East to present a new annual dance festival in Folkestone on the south coast of England. Our film partner is Screen South also based in Folkestone.

Wavelengths Dance Festival is set to make its grand debut this summer, promising an electrifying array of live performances in the theatre main stage and outside in the parks streets and beaches. There will be screenings, workshops and online activities and films.

The festival launch will be on Thursday, July 3rd and conclude Sunday, July 6th.
The hub will be at the Quarterhouse Theatre nestled in the heart of Folkestone’s Creative Quarter. There will be performances on the main stage as well as other places including outdoors in the park, in the streets and on the beach.

We are looking for lens based works that include dance as the main element in particular films that interpret movement and made specially for the medium of film not simply recorded dance.

These will be shown on a screening day on the 6th July as well as on screens in the public area of the theatre and be included in our online festival.
