Director Statement

After writing and producing this song, I created a proof of concept by filming myself with a GoPro in my apartment and mocking up motion graphics around me. After that, I joined forces with my DP, Micah Knapp and we assembled a crew. We used a number of techniques to create the theatrical and hypnotic feel of this video: an anamorphic lens, diffusion filter, two-tone, spotlight and backlighting with a hazer, a dolly, over cranking for slow motion, a mirror prop and spice girl inspired styling. Using a number of my creative skills–songwriting, performing, concepting, editing and animating–I feel a sense of great fulfillment releasing this. And it is an honor to have such a personal and vulnerable piece be supported and elevated by the expertise and talent of my dedicated crew.
