Experiencing Interruptions?

Stories of Tommy John

This documentary is a deep dive into Tommy John surgery and the stories of people that have gone through it. Tommy John surgery is the surgery which is required when a person tears their ulnar collateral ligament or UCL. This injury is very common in baseball pitchers. Not just at the Major League Baseball level but at all levels of the sport. After an introduction to UCL tears and Tommy John surgeries, the documentary focuses on two college level baseball players that have undergone Tommy John surgery. It follows their injury, surgery, struggles, and how it impacts them today.

Director Statement

I decided to do this topic because many of the documentaries on Tommy John surgery only focus on the Major League level of baseball. My documentary focuses on the college, high school, and little league levels of the game. Everyone hears the stories of the major league players but never the stories of the amature baseball players. That's why I wanted to tell the story of two of my teammates who have undergone Tommy John surgery. I wanted to tell their struggles, heartbreak, and triumphant returns to the world of baseball.
