Stillstand:ing is an experimental circus short film presenting insight into the mind of a circus artist during challenging times. It is a modern circus piece presented by aerial silks technique. The project has been supported by the Federal Ministry Republic of Austria Arts, Culture, Civil Service and Sports.

Director Biography

Annika Hakala is a full-time circus artist performing all over the world. Her fascination to film and video projects developed during the last years through short independent video projects. Stillstand:ing is her first short film project.

Director Statement

I'm a visual person and love the divers possibilities of film to great aspects and pictures, which are not possible in real life or which are against the rules of the reality. In this project I wanted to combine my love to circus and the storytelling side of film. I wish to work more in similar kind of projects in the future.
