Established in 2014, The Still Voices Short Film Festival is an international film festival based in Ballymahon, Co. Longford. This year the festival takes place from Aug 15th-18th 2019.

Now in its fifth year, Still Voices continues to grow from strength to strength. What started out as a small showcase for local filmmakers, has grown into a weekend festival screening both Irish and international short films.

This year, in addition to Best Irish and Best International Short Film, we have expanded our categories to include Best Animation and Best Non-Fiction.

There will also be exciting panel discussions, Q&As, in addition to feature films for children and adults alike, all of which will make it an enjoyable weekend for filmmakers, film-lovers, and everyone in between.

We accept submissions from both Ireland and abroad.

Best Irish Short Film - €1000
Best International Short Film - €1000
Best Non-Fiction Short Film - €500

  • Still Voices Short Film Festival was superb! It was arranged brilliantly with friendly organisers, fantastic speakers and filmmakers who could all mix easily in the small town setting, and at my doorstep which was a huge bonus. I got to see 3 of the 6 feature Screenings, nearly all of the panel discussions and I was delighted to be part of the Made in The Midlands programme. There was a great kids section too, which my young sister really enjoyed. Congratulations to everyone involved, I will definitely be about next year!

Good festival. We were there on Saturday and had a great time. The festival is well organized, great programme, and we really enjoyed the nighttime social gathering at Skelly's Bar. Would definitely recommend it and full credit to the festival organizers.

Had an amazing time at Still Voices! The festival helped arrange our accommodations and were extremely hospitable. I met a lot of wonderful filmmakers and really enjoyed the well programmed assortment of shorts, features and panels. My favorite aspect of the festival was their dedication to gender parity in their selection and judging, as well as their overall inclusivity in terms of programming.

It was great being part of this festival! The festival is very well run, with lots of great short film programmes, panels and events. The festival organisers were excellent in their communication and helped us out with accommodation. The Film Makers Feast was a great social event and was the perfect opportunity to met and socialise with other filmmakers from Ireland and further afield. Hope to be back next year!
