Tobias Frøystad is a Norwegian director and partner in Expect Films. He got his first video camera when he was 9 years old and has since been obsessed with the film medium. Tobias has always been hands on from A to Z on all his projects and, his distinct rhythmic editing style originates from his younger days when he made skateboard and snowboard videos. When Tobias graduated high school he worked 2 years in one of Norways biggest channels (TV2) before he co-founded the company Expect Films in 2010 which he still is a part of. Having lived in Los Angeles and New York, Tobias has gained a international client base and has worked with profiles such as Zlatan Ibrahimović and Kim Kardashian,

In 2011, Toby made an international TV show for MTV Europe called ‘Dexpedition’. This became a hit and both seasons have since been broadcasted over the world (including USA, India, Brazil, Australia). In 2015 he directed his first fiction feature film ‘The Dextape’, a ‘Dexpedition’ spin-off that premiered in cinemas all over Norway.

For two winters, Toby followed the snowboard-superstar Torstein Horgmo and made the documentary ‘Horgasm‘. It debuted on iTunes at #1 in Sports sections worldwide and climbed as high as #26 in ALL films on the U.S. iTunes store, sandwiched between ‘The Grey’ and ‘The Dark Knight’. In Norway Horgasm reached #1 and stayed there for almost a week! It was later TV broadcasted on ESPN and is also available on Netflix worldwide.

One In A Million, the documentary about Matoma, a world known DJ/Producer premiered in 2018 in Los Angeles and quickly became a hit within the music industry with positive reviews from magazines such as Billboard.

Other than documentaries, TV shows and feature films, Toby has made award winning commercials, music videos for both Norwegian and International artists.
