Steph Farber is a Jewish lesbian filmmaker who is passionate about cultivating imaginative films that stem from her own life experiences. Her film career began in Seattle in 2018, where she wrote, directed and produced her debut film, Smokescreen, which won Best in Show at SPLIFF before playing at Seattle Queer Film Festival, LGBTQ+ Los Angeles Film Festival, Washington West International Film Festival, Local Sightings, and Post Alley. She then went on to make two other shorts in the Seattle area.
Steph is currently working in LA, directing a long form short and developing a feature script. She is excited to dive into new creative collaborations and expand her portfolio of work. Steph believes wholeheartedly in the connections we form through media, both in creation and consumption. She strives to push the limits of complex and compelling stories centered around queer communities, with a strong focus on women and non-binary characters.
