A young man talks about his struggle with suicidal thoughts, depression and the persistent feelings of pain and emptiness that seem overwhelming. He struggles to stay alive one day at a time and his fight will never be over. However, he continues on because he wants to believe that there is hope. His message to others fighting the same battle: “You can stay too.”

Alla Volkova is a Russian Director that currently resides in Los Angeles, CA. Alla grew up in a small town in Siberia with a childhood dream to become a filmmaker. She came to the United States to pursue her education at Brigham Young University where she graduated with Bachelors degree in Media Arts, her emphasis being in cinematography and directing. Shortly after, she was admitted into the MFA program in Directing at the American Film Institute Conservatory. During that time Alla directed several short films including her award winning thesis film “Dreamland”. “Dreamland” played in many festivals and was nominated for Best Cinematography Award at Camerimage in Poland. It was also featured in one of the 2012 issues of The American Cinematographer.
In 2014 Alla was hired to work as a full-time Producer/Director at the LDS Motion Picture Studio in Salt Lake City, UT. There, Alla worked closely with a variety of clients and brands on producing and directing short films, commercials and documentaries for non-profit organizations. Her projects have always focused on diversity, inclusivity and speaking to international audiences. Her latest project, a suicide prevention film called “Stay” garnered unprecedented attention online with over 2 million views on YouTube. Alla received numerous messages from people struggling with suicidal ideations and severe depression thanking the project for representing their struggle.
In her capacity as a producer and director Alla worked on a variety of projects including productions with large crews, and even managed a post-production team of twenty VFX artists. In 2019 Alla quit her full-time job and received an opportunity to write the first season of a short form series titled “The Mortician” based on the original idea that she pitched and developed for Radiant Studios. Recently Alla has developed her latest short form series titled “Unaccompanied Minor” based on her experience of coming to the United States. She plans to crowdfund and film the pilot in 2020.
