In Retoña, Graciela faces the bittersweet moment of her daughter Lola leaving home. As they share a quiet dawn together, memories surface, and emotions linger unspoken. In a final embrace, they part, their bond forever imprinted on both their hearts.

I'm Candelaria Giacchino. I was born on July 20, 2004, in the city of Ayacucho. I currently live in Tandil, a city I moved to in order to study Integral Audiovisual Production at the Faculty of Art, UNICEN. *Retoña* is the first short film I've worked on, and it’s also my first experience in the role of director.
*"Retoña"* explores themes such as growth, the mother-daughter relationship, change, and home. It aims to resonate with audiences by depicting a pivotal experience familiar to many parents and young people.
The aesthetic choices are grounded in the desire to create an intimate, everyday world, focusing on natural elements like lighting, set design, costumes, and sound. We drew significant inspiration from films such as *Close* (2022), *Beautiful Boy* (2019), and *20th Century Women* (2016), both in terms of mood and thematic approach.
Emotion is the central element, serving as the narrative thread that weaves through the diverse emotions experienced by both characters and reflected in each viewer's personal journey.
