Director Statement

In 2015, I spent over one month in Rizhao Hospital in China, attending for my aunt who had suffered from a stroke. While taking care of her, I decided to record the lives of the family of other patients, while observing them closely on the hallways of the hospital and sharing in their pain. Four years later, while quarantined inside from corovid19, I finally had the time to put together the final version of "The Spring Festival". This short documentary is about the frailty of human life and our helplessness when those we care most about are hurt. Amidst human tragedy, the only comfort we can find is in each other.
