Lauren Curtis, 21, is the director of Spook. Lauren first started getting into filming when she use to make her own videos on an app called Video Star and through her media studies at school. She's received ‘best director' for her NCEA level 3 short film ‘The Journey’ and is now finishing up her third year of University studying TV and Screen production. Using her enthusiasm and her creativity, she's written/directed/edited Spook and has put a huge amount of effort into creating this film.
After binging all of The Office I had the idea to write a comedic story about two women moving in together. I wanted the characters to be relatable and real. I also wanted to do something different by bringing in the thriller aspect with the ghost. I loved the idea of the ghost being the typical lazy Halloween costume of a sheet over a person, this fuelled the comedy for the film. The characters are very close to my heart and in many ways reflect myself. I wanted to make something that made people laugh. The final production is something that I am proud of, I have poured a lot of myself into it and hope that people like it too.
