Spoiled & Sad

When I took a mental health leave from my job (Summer 2021) it was hard explaining to others but more importantly to myself why I needed or deserved the time off. I didn't feel like I had the right to be sad, so I instead just felt guilty. I created this video on my leave as I was working through my thoughts and felt like this was the best way I could express what little I understood about my mind. This was short film was shot and edited near my house in Lake Merritt - Oakland, CA.

Director Statement

"My favorite project I've ever worked on is always the next one in the pipeline. Even though I cringe when I go back and view old videos, they tell a story about a moment in time and to me that makes them worth making. One day I hope to make projects that inspire others, but for now I view them as a success if they at least bring me joy."
