Spirit of Jaguar
Four friends are heading into the Amazonian jungle for a challenging journey. They paddle down the wild rivers and hike through deep forests to become a part of the Indian Hodi tribe. The mysterious Sierra Maigualida Mountains, which haven´t been crossed by any European human being ever before, hides them from the surrounding world. Living side by side with Indians in their natural way of life and spending many days in their village show them how to respect the nature and its balance. Indian tribe Hodi represents the opposite of our western culture. It is their pleasure from the simple things and happiness from life versus our never- ending urge and desire to buy and possess.

Pavol Barabáš (1959) is the author of a large-scale of mountain-oriented and adventure films about peoples' survival in extreme conditions. His films were shot in inaccessible wilderness, on wild rivers and glacial peaks, as well as in deep caves far away from civilization. He likes to look for stories the heroes of which go beyond their limits. He is fascinated by encounters with different cultures and he is mostly attracted by the territories of Tibetan Buddhism, as well as the lands of natural people hidden deep in the jungle. His films present the manner in which man should treat the Earth. They emit love and respect for nature, enormous mental power and moral conscience.
Why have we decided to shoot this film?
"I was a member of many tough and extreme expeditions. However, if I have a feeling an important message is missing - I don´t make a film from it. But this journey got us into forgotten world with people living without need of property. For thousands of years people lived like this. To understand this relationship with nature means to understand our inner space. Indians from Hodi tribe are still a part of surrounding nature. They don´t find truths. They know them. We are tired from searching the best way of living, and losing the reverence to nature, water, air and living beings. We don´t want to be a part of the Earth, we want to conquer it.
Reverence to nature is a state of mind. Thanks to spirituality of Indians, they keep their inner balance and harmony needed for happiness.
