Speak! The Barking Mad World of Germany's Talking Dogs (1910-1945)
Speak! is the madcap tale of Germany’s golden age of talking dogs (1910-1945). In this animated short, three dogs—Don, Rolf, and Kurwenal—steal the spotlight during the heyday of music hall and vaudeville, attract serious academic interest from the New Animal Psychologists in Weimar Germany, and provide the inspiration for Nazi-sponsored experiments in dog-human communication at the outset of World War II.
“I am not afraid of dying. Dogs have souls and they are like the souls of men.” — Kurwenal 1937

- Ted Serios, Psychic Photographer
Public Pictures began as a company of like-minded artists whose first documentary, Reflections on a Thoughtographic Mind, investigated the hard-drinking, hard-living ex-bellhop and psychic photographer, Ted Serios, who claimed that he could imprint his thoughts onto Polaroid film.
Public Pictures has since produced award-winning arts- & culture-related documentaries featuring strong character-driven stories. These films have been broadcast internationally and screened at various festivals and renowned cultural institutions worldwide.
