Experiencing Interruptions?

“Speak Out!”

The ensemble and broader creative community of the Radnóti Miklós Theatre express their solidarity with the Hungarian Evangelical Fellowship and the Oltalom Charity Association. The indispensable and exemplary work of these organizations, which serves as a lifeline for hundreds of children, has now been rendered entirely impossible.

Adél Kováts, the director of the Radnóti Theatre, spoke about the “Speak Out” initiative, stating:
“Enough! It cannot be emphasized enough that we do not all start life with equal opportunities. The gap between rich and poor is widening, and the number of disadvantaged children and young people is growing.
We are operating an increasingly unjust system. Yet society has the capacity to heal itself through the vital work of civil organizations. They just need to be left alone. In many cases, they carry out essential tasks with expertise and dedication in place of the state apparatus. While their existence highlights the glaring deficiencies of the system, it should tolerate this and instead support and value the solutions they provide—rather than making their work impossible. What kind of future are we building this way?”

The short film also features Virág Erdős, whose iconic poem Speak Out is recited by the artists. Directed by Richárd Rideg, who also helmed The Last Class Trip, the film amplifies this message.

Earlier this spring, the Radnóti Theatre highlighted social responsibility with a unique photo exhibition titled Enough, featuring the work of photo-activist Gabriella Csoszó. Through her photographs, the theatre's actors represented causes they deeply care about.

The Radnóti Theatre sees it as its mission to reflect on social issues and
to inspire thought and dialogue through its artistic work and related programs.—not only among its audience but within society at large.
