Director Statement

In July of 2016, just a few days after my 18th birthday, I watched the single take crime drama "Victoria" by Sebastian Schipper. I was inspired by the movie to make my own single take film and began to envision a scenario in which the hero due to some unfortunate circumstance has to escape from a simple suburban house. Four months later and there is a finished copy of "Speak No Evil" sitting on my hard drive. After an abundance of positive feedback from my family, friends, and peers, I feel extremely thankful to now have the opportunity to share this raw and intense film with others. Id like to thank god and my family for all of their blessings, and id like to thank my cast and crew for all of their hard work. It makes me proud that I not only get to showcase my film, but also the amazing talent of everyone who worked on this picture as well.

I am also looking forward to actually being able to attend a film festival, especially one where one of my pictures is playing at. Just this year alone, I have had to miss three different festivals where four films that I had made/worked on where playing at. All of them I had to miss ironically because I was filming other projects. The next project that I am working tells the true story of my friends German great grandmother and her story of growing up and falling love with an American soldier during world war 2. Her story inspires me and is a story that I believe everyone should hear. As I sit here typing up my statement for "Speak No Evil" and thinking about what comes next, it's good to know that even with one film completed, there are still more challenges for myself as a filmmaker to come.
