Director Biography - timothy white

I'm a licensed, practicing Georgia personal injury and criminal defense lawyer since 1998. My interest in film making dates back decades, but in 2019 I decided to make a movie and show it to a local audience. Sorry, but I feel that 90% of major modern, non-amateur movies, and television, are absolute GARBAGE! I will rarely watch a new series or movie in which there's even one "famous" actor. The same old crap with the same old, overpaid actors. Yeah, yeah, I'm jaded and cynical, but it comes with age and decades of having mediocrity and garbage spewn at us by big buck production companies.

Director Statement

Entering a movie in film festivals was never something I seriously considered, but of course, I knew such events existed. Honestly, I'm more than satisfied that I actually made a movie and people paid money to come watch it.

Having completed Southern Spirits; and having shown it locally to the public, I can see the movie festival as the next step. However, my movie may be a little unpolished if you will for serious consideration by festival executives. My only hope is that those that select entries seriously consider the Georgia-made connection and the fact that this is my very first attempt at movie-making. Raw that it may be, surely there's something positive to be said about the efforts.

Southern Spirits was filmed over a two-month period using only local, non-experienced actors and actresses. As executive producer, I handled everything in this movie: directing, camera work, editing, sound effects, voice overs, etc. I even acted in the flick. I learned several things during production of this movie. While it's not perfect, I, and others too, feel Southern Spirits is a decent movie that the amateur-film-appreciating general public needs to see and appreciate. There's one two-minute scene about ten minutes in that has a wobbling/not still camera and different sound from the rest of the movie. The scene was shot using a cell phone, but I included it in the movie anyway. I beg your forgiveness before you watch the movie. After all, it's my first movie and I'm just an amateur.

By the way, while everyone wants to act, and even I may still act in my future movies, I find that my real interests are in directing and videography. Anyway, thanks for reading about me and Jethro Flicks.
