Sourz 2020
Sourz 2020 is about the relationship I have with my body as a queer woman and my anger towards how it looks compared to what society tells me it should look like. I've seen the people that I love struggle and work against themselves my whole life to fit an unrealistic standard. Sourz 2020 is a cathartic journey of breaking down materials under a camera the way I've broken down my body and mind over the last 25 years of my life. Through my music and using chemicals to break down, rework, and put back together materials until I can't, I am exploring what it means to force something to change. I am pushing the boundaries of my materials the way I've pushed myself. By putting paint, ink, 16mm film, vhs tape, fabric, and paper through a toxic cycle, I am examining the outcome of my experimentation and how it relates back to my music, art and self.
