Sound before the sound (Intersticial sound field of guslar practice)

There is a wide range of sounds in the sound spectrum, ranging from geophony to intangible traditional practice. This documentary focuses on the interstellar sound between the rustling of a maple tree, insects biting at it, and a concrete performance of the epic genre by the bearer of the Guslar practice. Vankoska and Stevanic are focusing their research on the sounds generated by skilled Gusla builders in the process of making this instrument. Using the selected sounds, a sound narrative emerges that strives to display a spectrum of different noises that have undefined meanings in the context of cultural norms, in contrast to the clear purposes of the epic genre of singing with the instrument.
