Director Statement

“As an artist, my goal is to create space for individuals of all ages, genders, and sexualities to freely express themselves. I strive to challenge societal norms and celebrate individuality, drawing from my own experiences as a BlaQueer person in their 40s.

My approach to artistic expression is fueled by a deep passion for creation and a desire to push boundaries and break down barriers. I find inspiration in a variety of sources, including film, dance, music, photography, and fashion. I believe that art is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-expression, and my work is informed by the diverse array of cultures and perspectives that coexist in urban environments around the world.

Growing up in New York City in the 90s, I faced many challenges as a Black, queer artist, including a lack of financial resources and limited opportunities. However, this dynamic environment instilled in me a fierce determination to persevere and push boundaries. My addiction to creation and unwavering passion for my craft have kept me moving forward.
Through my art, I aim to empower individuals who have felt the pressure to conform to societal norms. My work seeks to break down barriers and promote acceptance, celebrating the unique identities and experiences of each individual.

Whether it's a visual art piece, music, written word, or a performance, I am proud to have seen the positive impact that my work has had on the lives of others. I am committed to exploring new territory while holding onto the past, and I will continue to create art that challenges, inspires, and empowers individuals, regardless of their age, gender, or sexuality.”
