So Reel Film Festival is a vibrant platform dedicated to showcasing creative voices and stories by and about people of color. Our mission is to celebrate diversity and highlight the rich tapestry of narratives within the global community. Through compelling storytelling and powerful visuals, we aim to uplift underrepresented voices and create a space for authentic cultural expression. This film festival will take place during the Berkeley CA Juneteenth celebration.

Awards & Prizes

The Berkeley Juneteenth Festival is a celebration of the art of filmmaking in the spirit of Juneteenth. All films selected for screening will curated for their creativity, substance and content. All filmmakers will be honored for participation.

Rules & Terms

• Submissions must be created by a writer, director, and/or producer who is a person of color OR feature people of color.
• Categories: narrative, documentary films, feature and short films.
• Screenings will be on digital files ONLY and must have composite optical/digital sound.
• An applicant may be disqualified, without notice or refund if video link or passwords do not work. The applicant is responsible for making sure that all links and password remain operable thorough the festival selection and event date.

FILM SUBMISSION PROCEDURE:


• Up to 4 submissions per production house. A fee is required for each submission.
• TRT requirements are outlined in each category criteria.

• All films must be uploaded as an online screener.

• Filmmakers will be notified via email by May 25, 2024
-Please reach out if you have not received notice.

• Release documents, and press materials that include, a 30-sec clip, and Instagram flyer with official selection logo must be completed and submitted by June 1, 2024.

FILM SUBMISSION FEES
• Submission will not be considered until the submission fee is paid.
• Submission fees are non-refundable.

    Great new film festival in the Bay Area! Filmmakers treated with great respect and hospitality. We were given a cool gift at the end: our own pens with our names and film industry titles engraved on the pen. Very nice surprise. I definitely recommend submitting here.
