So they won't cross (Para que no se crucen)

"Para que no se crucen" (2019) presents a compilation of the Tijuana border wall since 2016 until present day 2019 with the objective to showcase the transformation the wall has undergone due to the different waves of migration. With the soundtrack of Agent's EP record "Extra.terrestrials" as the voiceover, this short documentary creates a bridge between the struggles of the newly arrived migrants to the Tijuana border to those living undocumented in the United States.

Director Biography - Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana

Lizbeth De La Cruz Santana is a third year graduate student in the University of California Davis working towards a Ph.D. in Spanish with an emphasis on Human Rights. Her academic work emphasizes a community based collaboration approach through fieldwork in the U.S.-Mexico Border to produce narratives surrounding the deportation experience. Additionally, De La Cruz is currently partaking in the production of digital narratives for the digital archives: Humanizing Deportation (http://humanizandoladeportacion.ucdavis.edu) and DACAmented: DREAMs Without Borders (https://dacamentedarchive.com/dacamented-archive).

Director Statement

Through a narrative lens, this short documentary contextualizes a section of the Tijuana border wall to bridge the experiences of migrants from both sides of the border. Narrated through his music, "Agent", a DACA recipient connects the experiences that connect the diverse group of (im)migrants in this frontier.
