Sorore

How to envisage your future, your goals, and your dreams as a young woman of 20 years old, facing new obstacles? For some, it may be a question of juggling with an imposed duality, of a country that saw us born but does not want to see us grow. For others, it may be a matter of finding one's place in a changing world or composing a better future for the world and the women of tomorrow.
But above all for all of them, it will be a question of making our voices heard again and again.

Director Biography - Agathe Breton

I am a photographer and young French director. Born in 1998 in Paris, I did all my studies around applied and graphic arts in different schools of architecture and design. At the end of my studies, I decided to start freelancing in 2020 as a photographer.

Passionate about sports and particularly football, I joined The Paris Football Club in 2013, then the formation of FC Nantes in 2017. My sporting career is punctuated by serious injuries and a succession of surgeries which prevents me today despite my will, to pursue a professional career. It is ultimately my passion for football linked to the visual arts that leads me to follow and immerse myself in the world of women's sport through photographic or filmed reports of teams and athletes.

After the pandemic, I wrote and directed my first short film, Sorore (sisterhood), motivated by the desire to highlight the women of my generation and the obstacles they face as women and athletes. The film won first prize in the « Filme ton Quartier » competition, awarded by France Télévision. I am currently developing a new documentary film project: a first medium-length film, with the aim of providing more detail on the subjects covered, by immersing myself in the world of women's football. At the dawn of the 2023 Women's World Cup and the 2024 Paris Olympics, talking about commitment and women's sports seems essential to me: questioning visibility, media coverage, and access to sport for all, with the aim of increasing parity in sport, that’s the challenge!

My work is motivated by the need to showcase women with an interested look at who they are and what they really represent in society. It's important for me to show journeys, moments of life, and portraits with authenticity, benevolence, and aesthetics, by offering photographic reports, intimate documentaries, editorials, etc.
