Sophia Winters is an award-winning young filmmaker with a passion for storytelling. Growing up she dreamed less about making movies and more about horses. Her love of equines led her to start making shorts involving small model horses. These shorts introduced her to the world of filmmaking and sparked a new passion. That passion only grew when a short documentary she made called “Operation Cowboy” placed 6th nationally at the National History Day Competition in Washington D.C.
Since that time, she has made films that have been selected to dozens of film festivals internationally and screened for audiences in theaters on five continents around the world.
She is also passionate about learning and collaborating and has relished every opportunity to interact with others in the filmmaking industry.
Intensely professional in her organization and pre-production planning, she aspires to have every set be a well-organized, safe, and fun environment for everyone involved.
Sophia is currently an Emerging Media Arts student at the Carson School of Theater and Film in the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts at the University of Nebraska, where she hopes to continue to develop as a filmmaker, storyteller, and person.
