Someone To Talk To

Amidst COVID-19 restrictions and social isolation, a young woman hosts an intimate, elegant dinner date–pizza, plates, and all. Her date–a framed photograph of actor Leonardo DiCaprio–listens intently as she vents and rambles about her life. Though initially hesitant, she becomes more engrossed in the illusion. She discusses picking up the takeout for the night, her childhood piano lessons, and more. As time goes on (and wine runs out), the young woman is eventually forced to confront the scene at hand. Her rambling stumbles upon the topic of her friend’s upcoming wedding. When she realizes she can’t think of a single friend or date she could bring with her, she has a moment of acute self-awareness. She’s spilling her guts to a picture frame.
