Sabrina Zoe Geffner is an award winning director, writer, and casting director dedicated to telling bold stories that explore universal truths, pushing the boundaries of storytelling across various genres such as comedy, fantasy, drama, and beyond. Most recently, she directed a comedy SOMEBODY ANYBODY (12 min), written by and starring Gracie Guichard and Katie Parkinson, about two polar opposite roommates who stumble upon a stranger’s ashes in their new apartment, sparking a chaotic quest to honor the dead—and each other. She also wrote and directed several other shorts including Good Enough (11 min), a surreal drama which won Best Director at the Brightside Film Festival and Best Student Film at the New York International Film Awards. Sabrina aims for the stories she works on to make an audience reflect on their own lives, where they see glimpses of themselves.
Real connections can come from the most unexpected places—even if it means hosting a funeral for an anonymous dead Florida man with your new roommate. “Somebody/Anybody” explores themes that plague many twenty-somethings: figuring out who you are and who you can rely on when life gets messy and inconvenient. And I’m not just talking about scattering ashes across New York City parks.
