Solstice

During a violent winter storm, a meek bartender spends the longest night of the year with a mysterious stranger with whom she shares a meal and an ancient ritual.
This film is based on the story collection and proposed tv series HOTEL NETHERLAND by writer/director Lisandro Perez-Rey.

Director Biography - Lisandro Perez-Rey

Lisandro Perez-Rey is an award-winning writer/producer and director of documentaries, and television shows for a variety of clients including SYFY channel and Nickelodeon. He has a background in content promotion (tv spots, trailers), digital/social media content, youth brands, geek fandom, comedy, sports, and Latin American culture/markets.
Perez-Rey has also had a parallel career as an independent creator, producing and directing short films, pilots and unscripted content. He is also a South Florida Cultural Consortium Fellow and a recipient of the prestigious Oscar B. Cintas Foundation Fellowship for artists of Cuban descent. His first feature-length film, Más Allá del Mar (Beyond the Sea) represents the most complete work to date on the infamous Mariel Boatlift of 1980. The film was named “Best Florida Film” at the Fort Lauderdale Film Festival and was broadcast on PBS channels nationally. His second documentary-- LA Fabri_K (The Cuban Hip Hop Factory) was filmed over the course of several months in Havana’s poor, outlying neighborhoods where rap music has flowered as a musical form.
"Solstice" his latest development endeavor is based on a short story collection Perez-Rey wrote himself and is adapting into a tv series.
