Solar Wind Alley
Alice lives with her younger sisters in the rural finnish village, in the house their mother build before she past away. Alice has taken mother`s place as the head of the family. She wants to protect her
younger sisters and shelter them from the world. When the solar storm hits the village it leaves everyone without electricity and puts the community in crises.

Solar wind alley film begun from a need to deal with future and fears. The film started as an absurd idea of what could happen if a powerful solar flare hit the earth and left the planet without electricity, how would life continue after that. The story deals with self-reliance and ecological crisis without being too heavy. The screenplay by Jarkko Olavi Virtanen reflects on important issues of our time and this is the reason why I wanted to turn the story into a film.
In the film sisters are left alone after their mother passed away and they are grown to be prepared to possible crises and trying to be as self-reliant as possible. The film shows through the story of one family and the small community a possible future, that in some way is already here with global resource scarcity, increasing problems with food production and other crises.
Despite the real and heavy topics we decided to make this film light, beautifully shot in the nature and there is quite a lot of joy in there also.
