Soil
Soil is a critical resource for lifeforms on Earth. Unfortunately, global soil quality is declining due to heavy land malpractices, such as overfertilization or deforestation. Though research is being done to develop better treatments to improve soil quality, the techniques used to measure the effectiveness of such treatments have remained stagnant. To address this issue, we have developed an innovative new tool: the BioRemeter. The BioRemeter is designed to gage soil health through measuring microbial activity, which is a cheaper and more efficient way to measure the effectiveness of different soil restoration treatments compared to using more conventional methods. As soil quality declines, it is crucial to have better ways of measuring soil quality to help in sustaining our planet’s soil environment.
