Snake's Court Stone
The Snake's Court Stone tells the story of three snake-related myths from different eras and around the world. The oldest known story related to snakes is the Sumerian myth of the Kur serpent-like dragon that caused the flood. In a Mesoamerican myth, the story of the birth of the Christ-like feathered snake god Quetzalcoatle is heard. The Finnish myth is based on the old belief about provider snakes and court of snakes. The blue-green color scheme of the video follows the world of snake observation. The work highlights the human way of associating animals with their own traits and characteristics.
Video work is part of an art project "In the Skin of Another" that combining art and research, and explores the different sensory ways of different species of animals as well as the way a person associates anthropomorphic traits with animals.
