Director Biography - Michael Medoway

Michael Medoway is known for telling authentic stories with unique voices, weaving brand culture into honest and believable narratives.

Michael started in advertising as a copy writer for feature films. His work can be seen on posters for the films: “Sideways”, "A.I.” and “The Road.”

After college, Michael lived in Japan for six years. After moving back to the U.S., Michael produced commercials for the Japanese market, where he continues working as a director today.

Michael was selected for the 2019 YDA (Cannes Young Director Award) and SHOOT’s 2019 New Directors Showcase for his work on the Lexus branded film ”The Art of The Dunk.”

Michael’s recent film “El Gallo” was an official selection of DOC NYC 2018 and won Best Short Documentary at the Rome Independent Cinema Festival and Best Cinematography at the DTLA Film Festival.

Michael loves, in no particular order: architecture, basketball, coffee, Haruki Murakami, running, red wine and good company.
