Slow Rider
Slow Rider is summer under the glow of a slow burn. Through humid clubs dancing with her friends to dreamed worlds in the bright colors of her grandmother’s house in Mexico, Lilli explores a world of vivid movement and simmering feelings.

Emily Massey (she/her) is a New York-based director and freelancer. She loves working on projects that highlight underrepresented communities and stories. Her credits include a documentary feature on Netflix, a short film on Paramount+, and a Sundance-award winning feature film. Currently, she works full-time as a Delivery & Post Production Coordinator at Bleecker Street Media, while directing and producing music videos in her spare time.
From the initial talks of Slow Rider, Emily was drawn in by the vibrant block colors and possible movement ideas. Coming from the sullen tones of the suburbs, the brightness of Lilli’s vision was a beautiful contrast to the world Emily grew up in. The movements within the video are inspired by other music videos like “Un Millón” by the Marías and “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa, along with Emily and Lilli’s respective backgrounds in dance and gymnastics. By moving back and forth between dreamy sequences and rhythmic club dances, Emily hopes to emulate the roller coaster feeling of slow burn love.
