Raised by the neighborhood bluejays in a town you’ve never heard of, SkyE is a transdisciplinary queer artist, autodidact, and self-made person. Inspired by birdsong and improvisation as bridges connecting us to flow and spirit, sky set their sights selectively on theater, opera, painting, circus, poetry, and film utilizing queer methodologies, eventually moving to the great city of Los Angeles, which has been their creative home for two decades.
On stage since they could walk, transformative performances shaped sky's view of the possibility of connection through art. The New Yorker said their leading role was 'performed virtuosically' in Hopscotch, a Mobile Opera. LA Weekly wrote of their flying through Hollywood Fringe: 'showstopping.'
Their experimental short films have been screened and honored at film festivals worldwide. Currently in residence at The Brewery Artist Lofts, art happenings SkyE co-creates and directs have moved them to current experiments layering past, present, and future artistic realities through technology and audience-responsive/immersive experiences that queer our habituated binaries and allowing for uncovering creative tools of expressing present moment appreciation.
The adaptation required for climate change permeates the immediacy of sky's themes, and queer visibility inspires their prolific creations inviting all to become part of the art unfolding.
