Skúmaskot
Two siblings, a young girl and her younger brother make home to an abandoned factory surviving on limited resources. Alba, the older sister of her brother Finn grows tired of his procrastination and finds an excuse to send him away for a brief moment. However in that brief moment Finn comes across danger in the post-apocalyptic world and so Alba sets off in search to find her brother and discover if he is safe or not.
This is a 3 minute short which concentrates on the conflict in important relationships. Skúmaskot focused very much on the cinematography of each shot in order to emphasise the title 'Skúmaskot' which translates from the Icelandic language meaning 'Dark corners’.

From York and currently studying A Levels, Robyn grew a strong interest in film making, specifically directing and cinematography, so at age 17 she attended the BFI UK Network academy in Hull and produced her first film Skúmaskot with four other young members. She will soon be attending another BFI course based in London and starting September 2017 she hopes to study Film Production at university.
Sam is an aspiring filmmaker from Beverley and has a passion for cinematography. Sam is currently in his first year of A Levels and is aiming to study Film Production at university.
There were many external factors affecting the outcome of Skúmaskot - one of which being natural lighting. However we were successful at working our setting with the lighting to create some interesting shots in under 6 hours. The lighting was one of the most important assets of our film as it became a tool in the storytelling of our film.
