Sketches to Skin

Montreal-based tattoo artists face an uphill battle between rising rent costs, the burden of social media, and "winter struggle" as they strive to make a living in the city.
In a metropolis like Montreal, everyone must find ways to get by with their overpriced apartment, groceries, and other living expenses. These four tattoo artists have chosen a creative path that can either make or break the bank. Keeping up with online trends and finding ways to make a name for themselves using social media determines their income, but at what point does it all start to weigh on a single person? This documentary showcases a deep dive of the hard-working tattoo artist in Montreal and their ability to make a good enough wage and keep themselves afloat.

Director Statement

This is my proudest work yet and I have so much more up my sleeve. The feedback I received from my instructor means the world to me, so I thought I'd give a film festival a shot. I couldn't have done this without the incredible support from these crazy-talented artists. Cheers!
