Sit with me
It is the story of an unlikely friendship between a young business man and an elderly woman who meet in one of London's parks. Thomas, a young man, sees a lady every day on the same bench in a park near where he gets his morning coffee. She is always busy with a different activity. Sometimes she knits, sometimes she plays the tambourine, sometimes she does tai chi and sometimes she just sits by herself and eats cake. One day he joins her and finds out that she used to do these activities with her friend who passed away.
Thomas who encountered the old woman with judgment and scepticism learns during their meeting how little time everyone has on this world and to make the most of everyday.
The story is about the power of community and how important it is to keep care of one’s mental wellbeing. Thomas is someone who only focuses his youth on work as he thinks that this is what will make him happy, however he realises that this is not the most important thing in life. He also learns to overcome his scepticism. He learns what is really important in life.

My name is Anne Zirker I am currently an MA film student at the London College of Communications. I did my BA in English and History at the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf and the University of Reading were I was sponsored by Erasmus and the German-British-Society.
My love of literature has always influenced my style in film. I started to experiment with filmmaking and finished my first short film "Breakfast on a Meadow" when I was 17 years old, which subsequently won at the Arendsee Film Festival.
The short film can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCq_VB9D9DY&list=LLBRAhswBqiungfCbr2lyrtg&index=33&t=3s
With "Sit with me" I was inspired by London's parks and the fact that people from all social classes, ages and backgrounds go there to walk their dogs, get some fresh air or to take a walk and how everyone lives in their own bubble. I want to show the connection between two people who are very different and how we all can learn from interactions with each other.
Regarding the style I was inspired by impressionistic paintings and I intend use quite a soft colour palette while heavily focusing on natural light.
