Sirius - An Animated Film
On an average night, a girl decides to take her dog out for a walk. Soon after they step outside, a leaf strikes the girl in the face. After picking it up and looking at it, she finds herself admiring the night sky. She then gets lost in the sight as she floats up into the sky among the stars. After a while, her dog barks for her attention, breaking her immersion. From there, the girl snaps out of it, and they continue their walk. The name of the film comes from the star Sirius, the brightest in our night’s sky, which is also known as the Dog Star for its place in the constellation Canis Major, or The Greater Dog.

Angela Endres is currently an aspiring artist studying animation at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her primary passion as an animator is being able to show viewers a world otherwise impossible under the laws of the real world. People’s mentality, thoughts, and ideology are also areas she is interested in portraying. She was driven towards this field from her introduction to video games and animated films at a young age and hopes to make such art for the children of today. As her start came from doodling copies of the art she was exposed to, her favorite mediums all involve a pen or pencil of sorts. She also has a love for animals, especially her dog Nugget, the star of this animation.
I created this film, Sirius, as a way to depict some of my night walks with my dog. While watching this film, I wanted to take the viewer through the journey of this girl; it would have been a normal night, but the leaf struck her face. When that happened, she was able to see the beautiful starry sky. What I then try to convey is the feeling of fascination for stars, which I feel myself, by having her elevate into her own world to literally wonder in the sight. Stars are one of the most beautiful sights in nature, and when I look at them, I can sometimes stop in my tracks for minutes. As with any other person, we all have some moments or experiences that can captivate us and make us feel this emotion of awe and wonder.
