Alessandro Baris is an Italian-American multi-instrumentalist, composer and electronic music producer based in Bologna, Italy.
Raised in the country side town of Esperia, Alessandro’s childhood was immensely influenced by its surrounding natural environment. This connection deeply touched his soul – impacting his approach to music and his love for experimentation across a variety of genres. Intimate and intense, detailed and evocative, his musical language is a continuous research through a process of deconstruction and reconstruction, somehow influenced by the endless life-cycle.
Alessandro was introduced to music when he took to learning the drums; then later, the guitar. He also studied Electronic Music Production and Sound Processing at the Conservatory of Music, Tempo Reale and Rai in Florence.
2022 sees the release of Alessandro’s debut solo album “Sintesi” anticipated by the singles “Last Letter to Jayne” feat. Lee Ranaldo of Sonic Youth, “Embers” feat. Emma Nolde and “Nival ” feat. Lisa Papineau. The album is also tightly connected to visual art, with visuals created on his music by international artists Luigi Honorat and Fabio Volpi.
Over the years he has also worked live and in studio with a wide range of artists and bands including L’Altra, A Toys Orchestra, Egle Sommacal (Massimo Volume), JoyCut, Pulseprogramming, C’mon Tigre, Pinhdar, Collisions and Paul Savage (Delgados, Mogwai) with notable performances and festival appearances that include CMJ (New York), Europavox (Wien) Proximos (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Eurosonic (Groningen), Tanned
Tin (Valencia), Robot (Bologna), Centre des Arts (Paris),
Kento’s (Shanghai), Club101 (Beijing), Sala Nasti (Madrid),
Schubas (Chicago), Monk (Roma), Ancienne
Belgique (Brussels), Tedx (Luxembourg), Petit Formant (Barcelona), Cameo Gallery (Brooklyn) amongst others.
His interest for connections between music and images made him also quite active as a composer and performer on live soundtracks for silent films. His soundtrack renditions includes Un Chien Andaloù, Berlin die sinfonie der großstadt , Das cabinet des Dr. Caligari and La Jetèe.
Sintesi is an immersive audiovisual journey meant for heart and mind.
