Singing for Loneliness
Web celebrities, a derivative of Internet technology evolution, produce all types of online films to entertain their audience. Gradually, commercial brands started to spend sizable marketing budgets on these celebrities. Prior to elections, internet celebrities frequently appear on the same stage with the president, the premier, or a mayor. Their power of discourse is now a force not to neglect. Besides making lots of money, they also accomplish both success and fame. Behind the glamorous fa-çade, what attracted our attention, however, was the tremendous pressure these celebrities under. Most of them became famous at the age of a young adult. They endured unbelievable tension aver-age people failed to imagine. Out with the old, in with the new. The audience’s taste might vary in an instant, allowing them no breathing room. They suffered from stress but were unable to cope with it. Eventually, they got stuck in this modern trap. Mentally and physically exhausted, they couldn’t even recall who they were.

For the past fifteen years, the director Hsieh hsin-chihi has focused on making documentaries and got many awards. He doesn’t think that the values in a film are given by the creator. It’s the philosophy of life made by the interaction of the filmmakers, the subjects, and the audience.
They are called internet celebrities. Following a prescribed order is not their thing. Doing exemplary deeds doesn’t conform with their values. They need to position themselves in this rapidly progress world. Young as they are, they might think they’ve got the whole world in their hands. Eventually, they will realize they’ve been fooled by this era.
