Director Statement

What do your memories mean to you?

So much joy is rooted in recalling life’s most cherished moments, so what would you do if they were stripped away because of dementia? This short film explores the life of a man whose entire identity is fading in front of him… and he’ll do anything it takes to hold tight to his past.

A few years ago, I lost one of the most important women in my life... my grandma. She’d been struggling with an ongoing battle with dementia -- moving from retirement home, to my parent’s house and eventually into an elderly care facility. Until one day, after I returned home for Christmas, she couldn’t even recognize me anymore.

Although she didn’t pass until months later, I knew she was gone when her memories faded. Memories we shaped together throughout the years like an emotional savings bond.

This story is for her.
