Director Statement

I was inspired to make this film as a way to recognize and honor the deaf community, especially after my mom became deaf in one ear following brain tumor removal surgery. This personal experience made me more aware of the barriers that exist and the importance of representation, understanding, and empathy. I approached the film with a storybook-inspired visual style, combining child-friendly storytelling with comic book panels. My goal was to craft a narrative that feels playful and meaningful, something that people of all ages can enjoy while also encouraging important conversations. The film explores themes of difference, deafness, connection, and breaking down barriers. Through this story, I hope audiences come away with a deeper awareness of the deaf community and a reminder that understanding and inclusion often begin with listening and empathy.
