Ever since I watched the bonus features of my favorite film when I was a little kid, I had always dreamed of making my own film one day. My journey began when I wrote my first 140 page feature film script that inspired me to keep writing and pursue my goal. I then realized to become a director, I would have to begin on my very own short film. Over a course of a year I wrote Silent Memory, my first short film.

Coming from a family that migrated from Mexico, the story of immigrants crossing the border was always a story I wanted to tell and is the inspiration behind this film. I also wanted to capture that people with all sorts of backgrounds and disabilities are crossing the border as well.

Current events illustrate what is going on at the southern border and how refugees are being treated as they seek better lives. I hope this story reflects that all sorts of immigrants are seeking better lives for different reasons. The way that are treated by government officials do not help their case, maybe only worsen it.

This film illustrates that you never know what someone is going or went through. If you embrace someone with an open mind set, you might just find something exciting or special.
