Silent Connection

The main idea of the film, ‘Khamosh Rabt’ is the plight of the differently abled and loneliness. The deaf community lack any proper opportunities to work and live a quality life. They are a part of the society we live in and greatly ignored. Even though there are various schools set up, after a certain level, they are unable to continue their studies for lack of educational opportunities. The core of this short film is one family’s struggle to give one of their sons, who is deaf by birth, a better life and since they have the resources, they settle him abroad with his aunt. Their journey however, is full of hardships, loneliness and depicts the struggle of raising a disabled child (among their normal children) in Pakistan. This family does not represent the vast majority of the population who have a deaf child but a minor percentage. Though their social status is better than most, they too have to bear the pain of raising a deaf child in this society.
