Shroom Omelette
Shroom Omelette is an 8 minute short film based loosely on the events of my grandfather (Katie Brown- Director) who, after foraging for mushrooms accidentally made himself a shroom omelette and experienced psychedelics for the first time at the age of 75.
The film follows Lawrence as he goes about his daily life before it descends into chaos during a meet the parents dinner with his son’s new boyfriend. Between the antics of the boyfriend trying to impress and with the shrooms beginning to hit Lawrence, as they sit down to eat it, becomes near impossible for his wife, Winnie, and son, Johnny to hold the meal together. Leading to a very fun and rather wild experience for all involved.
(This is a slightly longer cut than what will be submitted if successful, will remove clock at start and a few other small details.)

Shroom Omelette, is director Katie Brown's debut. Whilst she has produced numerous other short films during her time at university and even prior to that, Shroom Omelette is the first time she has taken the creative reins for a project and what better one to start with than this fun loving comedy drama.
Shroom Omelette whilst based on a true story of my grandfather is one I really wanted to use to take the chance to explore being silly and having fun with filmmaking. With so many films nowadays focusing on the dour I wanted to make a piece that truly brings a laugh and a smile to peoples faces whilst also having a positive and strong message at heart. No matter your age there's always time to have fun, be silly and try something new... even accidentally.
