Great experience, even though I couldn't be there in person. Communicating with Denise was a pleasure. Hopefully I'll be able to visit in the future. Highly recommended.

  • Had a great time at this festival. Great communication from Denise and hospitality. As a filmmaker within the the shorts line-up collection, it would had been great to have a Q&A session following all the showings to answer questions with the audience and fellow filmmakers but I understand if festival time restrictions prevented it. It would had been a great addition to the experience. A bit more festival signage from the road would had been great as we got a little lost being from out of town. Overall a great festival to submit and attend!

    Response from festival:

Thank you Adolpho! The signage is not allowed on the lot, unfortunately...the only downside of screening on the lot. :) And the reason for no Q&A this year was I chose to screen more shorts rather than less with a Q&A...I figured filmmakers would much rather be in the fest than not due to time constraints with a Q&A. :) It was great having involved this year and I look forward to your future projects!

I had such a great time at Shriekfest. I didn't want it to end. I can't wait to visit L.A. for it again. Heck, I'm ready to move there. Denise Gossett runs a fun film festival that is also screenwriter-friendly. Always a plus. The well-curated film schedule provided some fantastic entertainment over the weekend and the opening night party was amazing. Overall, just a stress-free, laid back festival with a welcoming leader, staff and team of volunteers.

This is a great Fest and my favorite of the 8-or-so-different I've attended.
Beyond the warm and family atmosphere that Denise Gossett (one of the "10 most influential women in horror!") sets for it, the Fest really is the people you meet. One can, of course, choose to sit back and just watch movies ... or, since many of those around you are wearing lanyards revealing their Creator Status and relationship-to-product, ya can walk up and stick a hand out and conversate your day away.
I've met DPs and Writers and the awards-winning Producer and Director of my latest Project at this fine Fest; folk I'll know for the remainder of my life because Shriekfest attracts Creators with a passion and professionaism about Genre Film.
    Top Genre Fest, for me.

  • I was thrilled beyond words to have become part of the Shriekfest Family with my screenplay i, PHIEND. The festival is top notch on all fronts- Hospitality, networking, communication-- oh my God, I asked so many redundant questions to Denise and she always pleasantly got back to me with very quick answers. The best fest by far!
