Director Statement

I wanted to address the issue of eating disorders, and in particular anorexia from the point of view of a normal girl, whose ambition is bathing-suit modeling for a local brand. A common story.
The journey she pursues when, put in comparison to other girls, she sees herself fat without actually being fat, she believes in situations that exist exclusively in her head. The whole structure of the short film is based on what Marta's mind sees, distorted, in reality. The women that moves around her, a red apple becomes a cheeseburger, the blurry imagine of herself in front of the mirror, are images that inhabit in her personal struggle: the first steps towards anorexia.

I worked on the script and on the direction alongside three marvelous young women which decided to speak out their personal experience of anorexia: touching your belly, watching yourself blurry in front of the mirror, the psychological gestures shown in this short film are contributes offered from direct experiences.
Two of these girls even decided to volunteer as actresses and since this movie had to be tackled not with a light tone, on set and backstage, very strong emotions has been perceived, and sometimes tears occurred.

Pranic nutrition, such as progressive weight loss, has been studied and recounted in the most authentic way possible, taking in consideration the dominant grotesque element of this short film. All the data we used is real.
