Shezah Salam is a writer and filmmaker based in London. Her latest short film, Bona Vacantia, was the winner of the 2021 Genera Film Fund and a finalist at the Shore Scripts competition. It screened at the OSCAR-qualifying Taveer Film Festival, the BAFTA-qualifying Norwich Film Festival, Bolton Film Festival and many others.
Indian by birth, raised in the Middle East and now a card-carrying Londoner, Shezah's life has been shaped by the clash of different cultures. This experience has fuelled her interest in stories about identity, family and belonging - usually told through a darkly comic lens.
Shezah is a graduate from the London Film School. Previous to filmmaking, she worked for over 6 years in advertising, working for agencies like Global Media & Entertainment and Grey Worldwide as a creative writer.
