Camera Operator, director, writer, and film scholar, Chenita Adé was born Chenita White on April 1 in Flint, Michigan. She remembers fondly a family member asking her when she was only 6 years old what she wanted to be when she grew up. She replied, “a movie star.” Her creative personality being her lively trademark, Chenita started to develop her on-screen and off-screen skills by creating comedic shorts for social media. Her comedic timing and editing garnered a significant number of followers and supporters. Her special blend of satire, surrealism, and subjectivity is her space of comfort, however, she isn’t one to be put in a box. While deeply loving filmmaking, she is an award winning scholar and film theorist. Her writing focuses heavily on Dark Skin Representation in Media and the promotion of agency over the Dark Skin Woman’s Body. She currently attends film school at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. While in undergrad, she has worked with notable film production companies Fox, Honeyhead Films, and Lighthouse Productions where she was able to receive top tier hands on experience in the field of production.
