Born in Tasmania, Australia, Shaun’s passion for telling stories emerged early, penning his first short story at the age of six. He then became interested in storytelling with images, procuring a Canon SLR camera at the age of eleven. Before making it out of his teens, Shaun travelled to Europe in search of further creative inspiration. This move followed with a series of odd jobs, including working as a nanny in London’s richest area, and taking up a post as the boarding housemaster of a school in the outskirts of Oxford. Through his varied "day jobs", Shaun continued to practice photography, work as a freelance writer, completing several articles, novels and screenplays, as well as also directing a number of low budget films.
As Shaun’s interest in filmmaking gathered more intensity, he enrolled in a film school of his own design, becoming a background extra and crew member on professional film sets. This experience enabled him to learn more about filmmaking alongside renowned directors, actors and technicians, on productions ranging from major studio blockbusters, to national network tv shows. Shaun then turned his passions into his profession, beginning to focus squarely on his work as a director of independent films.
