Shankar Borua was born and raised in Assam, Northeast India. Borua holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University, USA. His dissertation is titled American Political Documentaries: Structure, Agency, and Communication of Meaning. Borua is an entrepreneur and a scholar-practitioner having straddled both academia and the film industry as a writer, director, producer, and actor. In recent years, Borua has been actively involved in mentoring aspiring filmmakers and communications professionals. His filmography includes Angst at Large, If God be With Us, All those Longings, Center Mass, Hope is a Good Thing, Beleaguered, Grief on a Sunday Morning, The Curiosity Shop, and Colorful. Borua is a nature lover and a keen jazz enthusiast. In addition to gardening, hiking, and nature walks, his interests include tennis, fishing, and social entrepreneurship. Borua is also the Co-Founder of a Robotics and AI start-up PaiByTwo Pvt. Ltd. His new film BLUE OCEAN, set entirely at the foothills of the mighty Himalayas in Dehradun, India, is slated for release in the Summer of 2025.
